We are a collective of diverse and distinct voices of BIPOC adoptee writers and artists.

MISSION: We honor the experiences and elevate the work of BIPOC adoptee writers and artists.

VISION: We envision a literary and artistic landscape where BIPOC adoptee writers and artists have agency and autonomy to advance and deepen their own narratives.

We do this by:

  • Fostering community among adoptee writers and artists.

  • Creating space in order to mourn the losses and celebrate the triumphs of adoptee writers and artists.

  • Collaborating on public presentations, exhibitions, and workshops.

Why “starling”?

“The synchronized movement patterns of a starling flock is also known as a murmuration. Guided by simple rules, starling murmurations can react to their environment as a group without a central leader orchestrating their choices; in any instant, any part of the flock can transform the movement of the whole flock. Collective leadership/partnership. Adaptability.” - adrienne maree brown, Emergent Strategy
